The Prayas Senior Club serves as a dedicated wing within Prayas (The Progressive Bengali Association of Greater Columbus), created to foster a vibrant, supportive, and active space for senior community members. By offering regular social gatherings, wellness activities, cultural engagement, and intergenerational mentorship, the Senior Club ensures that our elders remain connected, valued, and actively involved in the warmth of our extended community family.

Core Objectives & Pillars

1. Social Connection & Companionship (Adda & Community)
Regular Meetups: Monthly informal Adda sessions, tea gatherings, and group discussions to combat social isolation and maintain strong community ties.
Cultural & Leisure Outings: Seasonal excursions, park strolls, museum visits, and group outings during local community events and picnics.
Celebrations & Heritage: Commemorating milestones, birthdays, traditional festivals, and seasonal gatherings tailored to senior accessibility.

2. Health, Wellness & Active Living
Mind & Body Wellness: Organized gentle yoga, guided meditation, indoor walking circles, and low-impact fitness routines.
Health Awareness Talks: Periodic sessions with healthcare professionals on nutrition, joint care, preventive health, and managing wellness in mature years.
Emotional Well-being: Creating a comfortable, safe environment for sharing experiences, peer support, and active listening.

3. Intergenerational Engagement & Mentorship
Youth Collaboration: Partnering closely with the Prayas Youth Club for storytelling, language practice, oral history projects, and cultural preservation.
